Expected volunteer shifts
Most shifts: 2:00–6:00 PM
Distribution begins at 4:00 PM. Setup and traffic shifts may begin earlier, and some cleanup may continue after 6:00 PM. A coordinator will confirm the exact assignment and arrival time.

Volunteer conduct and safety
What volunteers agree to do
- Check in before beginning and remain in the assigned work area.
- Follow directions from Bridge Niagara coordinators, venue staff, and authorized public-safety personnel.
- Perform traffic, vehicle, food, equipment, or heavy-lifting work only when assigned.
- Wear closed-toe shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, and any provided safety equipment.
- Use team lifting and decline a task that is beyond your ability.
- Report injuries, hazards, missing persons, or unsafe conduct immediately.
Dignity and privacy
Protect families and fellow volunteers
- Treat every guest, volunteer, and partner with dignity and without harassment or discrimination.
- Do not ask for financial, medical, immigration, or other information that is not part of an approved assignment.
- Do not photograph, record, interview, or post identifiable guests unless assigned to the approved media team.
- Do not share volunteer lists, recipient information, private schedules, or incident details.
- Do not report while impaired, and stay home if illness could put guests or food handling at risk.
- Call 911 for an immediate emergency, then notify the event coordinator when safe.
Volunteers under 18
Confirm supervision before signing up or arriving
The individual online volunteer form is for adults age 18 and older. A volunteer under 18, or a school or youth group, must contact info@bridgeniagara.org in advance so age, guardian consent, supervision, venue, and assignment requirements can be confirmed. Do not arrive with an unconfirmed youth group.
Change of plans
Cancel as early as possible
If you cannot attend a confirmed shift, reply to the coordinator’s confirmation or email info@bridgeniagara.org as soon as possible. This helps the event team reassign the role safely.
Optional media choice
Photo permission is separate from volunteering
Permission to use an identifiable photo, video, or audio recording is optional and does not affect an ordinary volunteer assignment. The form presents a clear yes-or-no choice that is not selected in advance.
Bridge Niagara will make a reasonable effort to honor an opt-out. Incidental appearance in a wide crowd or background image at a public event may not always be avoidable. Featured images, interviews, or recordings of minors require parent or legal-guardian consent.
Future-event communication permission must also remain a separate optional choice.
Read the event policies and FAQ and review the Privacy Policy before submitting the volunteer form.
