Privacy
Privacy Policy
This policy explains how Bridge Niagara Foundation handles information submitted through bridgeniagara.org, donation and sponsorship payments, volunteer forms, event inquiries, and related communications.
Effective date
July 28, 2026
Bridge Niagara uses personal information to operate charitable programs, process support, coordinate volunteers, protect the website, and respond to people who contact the organization.
Information collected
Information you provide and website data
Depending on how you use the site, Bridge Niagara may collect:
- Your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, organization, and message content.
- Donation or sponsorship amount, date, status, designation, transaction or receipt details, and sponsor materials.
- Volunteer availability, role interests, relevant experience, coordinator questions, and communication choices.
- Information you voluntarily include in a contact, event, website-access, refund, or partnership inquiry.
- Technical information such as IP address, browser or device type, referring page, pages visited, cookie identifiers, and form or security logs.
Please do not submit medical records, government identification numbers, complete payment-card details, immigration information, or other sensitive information that is not needed for the request.
Payment information
Card details are handled by the payment processor
Online payment information is collected and processed by Stripe or another provider identified at checkout under that provider’s privacy terms. Bridge Niagara receives transaction and contact details needed for receipts, fraud prevention, refunds, and financial reconciliation but does not receive or store a complete card number.
Never email a complete card number or enter one into a general contact or volunteer form.
Use
How Bridge Niagara may use information
- Process payments, send receipts, review refund requests, and maintain financial records.
- Coordinate volunteers, programs, events, website-access reports, and approved sponsor acknowledgment.
- Respond to questions, partnership requests, and reports of a website problem.
- Send optional event or nonprofit updates when a person has requested them.
- Prevent spam or fraud, secure the website, investigate incidents, and protect people or property.
- Meet legal, tax, accounting, insurance, and reporting obligations.
- Understand aggregate website use and improve public information and services.
Sharing
When information may be disclosed
Bridge Niagara may provide only the information reasonably needed to service providers that support payment processing, forms, email, website hosting, analytics, security, or event operations.
Information may also be disclosed when required by law, to investigate fraud or a safety incident, to protect rights or property, or when a person directs Bridge Niagara to share it.
Bridge Niagara does not sell or rent personal information. A sponsor does not receive attendee, recipient, donor, or volunteer contact information as a sponsorship benefit.
Public information
Sponsor acknowledgment, photographs, and media
A sponsor’s approved organization name, logo, website, location, and neutral business description may be published as described on the Sponsor page. Billing, payment, and private contact information are not part of public acknowledgment.
Volunteer permission for an identifiable photograph, video, or audio recording is optional and separate from ordinary participation. Photography or media activity may occur in public event areas. Bridge Niagara will make a reasonable effort to honor an identifiable opt-out, although incidental appearance in a wide crowd or background image may not always be avoidable.
Featured images, interviews, or recordings of a minor require parent or legal-guardian consent.
Website technology
Cookies and embedded services
The site may use essential cookies for forms, sessions, security, and payment processing, and may use analytics cookies to understand aggregate traffic. Embedded services such as Stripe, Google Maps, hCaptcha, Jetpack, or video providers may receive technical information under their own policies.
Most browsers allow cookies to be blocked or deleted. Blocking essential cookies may prevent a form, payment, map, or saved form behavior from working. Read the Cookie Notice for more information.
Retention and security
Information is kept only as needed
Bridge Niagara keeps information for as long as reasonably needed for the purpose collected and for legal, tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, safety, backup, and recordkeeping obligations. Different systems and record types may have different retention periods.
Bridge Niagara uses reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the information and the services in use. No website, email, form, or payment system can guarantee absolute security.
Choices
Review, correction, deletion, and optional messages
You may ask Bridge Niagara to review or correct your information, request deletion where there is no legal or operational need to keep it, unsubscribe from optional updates, or withdraw permission for future use of an identifiable volunteer photo.
Bridge Niagara may need to verify the requester’s identity and may retain records required by law, accounting, fraud prevention, safety, or legitimate nonprofit operations. Withdrawing photo permission may not remove material already printed or published.
Children and youth volunteers
Parent or guardian involvement
The website is not designed to collect personal information directly from a child under 13. A youth volunteer arrangement should use an approved parent, guardian, school, or supervised-group process. If a parent or guardian believes a child submitted information without permission, contact Bridge Niagara.
Other websites
Third-party links and services
The site links to services Bridge Niagara does not control, including payment, mapping, and social or media services. Their privacy and accessibility practices may differ. Review the provider’s terms before submitting information.
Changes
Updates to this policy
Bridge Niagara may update this policy as its website, forms, providers, or legal obligations change. A material revision will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
